Bureau of Land Management and Bureau of Indian Affairs working together toward a solution
The Interior Department released a public list of potential alternative sites for managing energy development in New Mexico on Friday. Possibilities for development are within several Native American sites, causing concern among some tribal governments. The Bureau of Indian Affairs made clear that any development would need to “balance community needs and development,” and limit impacts on the way of life for those who live in the area.
According to Bureau of Land Management Deputy Director William Perry, “Our paramount objective in developing this draft resource management plan has been to work closely with the Bureau of Indian Affairs to ensure that we minimize and avoid impacts to Navajo communities in the area, as well as the cultural and natural resources important to them.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- That God would use the Bureau of Indian Affairs to effectively represent the needs of native people in the U.S.
- For the Bureau of Land Management to be good stewards of the nation’s resources.
- That the Trump Administration would be guided by the Lord on how best to interact with Native American sites.
